Virginia Union University's Alana Simmons had 11 kills and two service aces, but Bluefield State University defeated the Lady Panthers 20-25, 25-18, 25-13, 25-10 on Monday, October 23, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.

VUU's Jade Lane had five blocks while teammate Ashlee Franklin had 24 assists.

Virginia Union's Alaysia Miller had 15 defensive digs in the match.

"It was a tough loss tonight," said VUU Assistant Volleyball Coach Danielle Perry.  "We will need to regroup and refocus on passing and discipline."

Virginia Union will now travel to Petersburg, Va., to face Virginia State University at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 26.
