RICHMOND, Va. – Virginia Union University has captured the prestigious C.H. Williams All-Sports Trophy as well as the Top Game-Day Experience Award from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association, the CIAA announced during its 2026 Spring Meeting on Tuesday, May 12, in Charlotte, N.C.

The C.H. Williams All-Sports Trophy is awarded annually to the institution with the conference's top men's athletic program. This marks the second time Virginia Union has earned the honor after previously winning the award during the 2023-24 academic year.

Virginia Union also became the first private institution to win the award multiple times since Hampton University accomplished the feat in 1991, 1992, and 1993.

"Finding the right words to express the joy of winning the C.H. Williams All-Sports Trophy is difficult," said Joe Taylor, Vice-President for Intercollegiate Athletics and Community Wellness. "It is an honor bestowed annually by the CIAA that recognizes the top male program in the conference. VUU made history by winning it for the first time in 2023-24. To win it again this year in 2025-26 is truly humbling.

"It is a testament to our outstanding student-athletes, coaches, and administrators. Our Game-Day Staff led by Ralph Brown, Taylor White, Jerome Furtado, Tim Milam, Hunter Astrop, Jim Junot and others deserve a round of applause for VUU winning the top honor in the conference for 'Game-Day Experience.'"

Taylor also highlighted several historic accomplishments achieved by Virginia Union during the 2025-26 athletic season, including:

• The first-ever Indoor Track & Field CIAA Championship.
• The first Outdoor Track & Field CIAA Championship in 92 years.
• The Harlon Hill Trophy winner.
• CIAA Coach of the Year honors in Track & Field.
• CIAA Coach of the Year honors in Men's Basketball.
• CIAA Player of the Year honors in Football, Women's Basketball and Track & Field.
• Top Game-Day Experience Award.
• The C.H. Williams All-Sports Trophy.

"These results point to a 'House of Quality' in Lean Six-Sigma Standards, but we remain — CHAMPIONSHIP CITY," Taylor added.
