Jim Junot has been Sports Information Director at Virginia Union University since 2003.

Junot has a 33-year association with sports administration.

A Warren Berg and Mel Greenberg award nominee, Junot received his Bachelor’s degree in Communication from the University of Louisville in 1983. 

He spent 12 years as an assistant sports information director for the University of Louisville.

Junot relocated to Richmond, Va., in 1999.  After a stint as a reporter with the Richmond Free Press newspaper, Junot landed at Virginia Union University in August of 2003. 

Junot has won 16 writing awards during the past five years and has placed second place nationally twice in the Fred Stabley Writing Contest, sponsored by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Junot was the first SID from an Historically Black College or University (HBCU) to place nationally in the Stabley Writing Contest and the first SID from any institution (Division I, II, or III) to place nationally in two consecutive years.

Junot was Vice-President of the National Technology Committee of CoSIDA.

Junot also assisted author Kathy Reichs with research on two of her best-selling Temperance Brennan novels as well as hosting a podcast dealing with classic movies.
