Box Score 2 For the first time in the NCAA-era history of Virginia Union University volleyball, the Lady Panthers have started the season 4-1 after defeating Concord University 25-22, 25-19, 21-25, 25-22 in the second match of the day at Buena Vista, Va., on Tuesday, September 13.
VUU's only loss came at the hands of host Southern Virginia University 25-13, 25-21, 27-25 in the first match of the day.
In the Lady Panthers' match against Concord, VUU's
Arianna Bethel and
Jayshil Oatley led the team with 12 kills apiece while each player had 12 defensive digs apiece.
VUU's
A'rmaria Wright recorded 29 assists while
Jamaica Adams led the Lady Panthers with 19 defensive digs.
In the first match, Bethel had eight kills while Wright recorded 13 assists.
Virginia Union now travels to Bowie, Md., to compete in the CIAA Round-Up. Â VUU plays Livingstone College and Winston-Salem State University on Saturday, September 17 and will then face Johnson C. Smith University on Sunday, September 14.
