RICHMOND, Va. — Virginia Union University Athletics recognized the academic achievements of 168 student-athletes during the men's and women's basketball games on Wednesday, February 4, at Barco-Stevens Hall.
The honored student-athletes earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the 2025 fall semester, reflecting the department's continued commitment to academic excellence across all sports programs.
Of the 168 honorees, 74 student-athletes posted GPAs between 3.0 and 3.49, while 65 student-athletes recorded GPAs between 3.5 and 3.99. An additional 29 student-athletes achieved perfect 4.0 GPAs.
"Since we have been recognizing our Scholar Student-Athletes/Performers, there has been an increase in the number of our student-athletes with 3.00 and higher GPAs each academic year," said VUU Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Academic Support E. Lee Coble. "The 2025 fall semester is the second-highest total representing all sports teams, with 168 student-athletes/performers earning GPAs of 3.00 and higher. This continues to truly affirm IACW's motto as 'Student First, Athletes Second.'"
