Tennis Beats Bowie State on Senior Day

The Virginia Union University women's tennis team hosted Bowie State University on Saturday, April 12, at Battery Park in Richmond, Va.

The Lady Panthers defeated Bowie State and took home a 4-3 win.  

Bowie had two lines of singles default as well as their #1 doubles.  

"I am proud to say all of my girls are warriors and made it happen," said VUU Head Tennis Coach Gerri "Gigi" Carter-Thurston.  

In singles, Briana Velinor won her match with a 6-2 6-1 score, Andrea Sanjuro went into a tie breaker 6-4, 2-6, 7-10, and Doubles duo Galeisha Miller and Madison Hill won with a score of 6-3.

"I am super over the moon about this win," said Carter-Thurston.  "I know that we had to make sure the weather was going to hold. but it did and it enabled my girls to win!! We will now go into the CIAA Round-Up with a good sense of Panther Pride!!  Go Lady Panthers!"
