Virginia Union University Women's Basketball Coach Tierra Terry has been named a Rising Star by Ascension Sports Consulting, it was announced on Thursday, June 1.

Terry is entering her third season at the helm of the VUU women's basketball program.

"Ascension Sports would like to recognize Virginia Union University Head Coach Tierra Terry as a "Rising Star" coaching candidate," Ascension Sports wrote on its' web site.  "We spent time with Coach Terry during the live period And feel she will continue to lead VUU in a upward trend. Coach Terry is a rising star in the business."

"For me, as a person, it's nice to be recognized by people who have been doing this for a long time, and who can recognize talent on so many levels," Terry said.  "As a coach, I'm always motivated to do better, and the fact that we improved from year one to year two makes me look forward to the constant improvement and how I can continue to keep growing as a coach as well."

Virginia Union will open the 2023-24 season on Friday, November 10, when the Panthers host the PSAC-CIAA Conference Challenge in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
