Langley & Martinez Land All-CIAA Honors

Virginia Union University's Ny Langley was named to the 2022-23 All-CIAA Women's Basketball Team while teammate Bruni Martinez was named to the CIAA All-Rookie Team, the CIAA announced on Monday, February 20, in Baltimore, Md.

Langley led the Lady Panthers with a scoring average of 16.1 points and a rebounding average of 9.3 rebounds per game.

Martinez averaged 6.3 rebounds per game and pulled down 20 rebounds against Washington Adventist University this season.

"We are extremely proud of Ny's hard work and persistence in her pursuit of All-conference honors and striving for player of the year this season," said VUU Head Women's Basketball Coach Tierra Terry.  "In our eyes she is our Player of the Year. Not being named to the All-conference team last season fueled her to perform at an even higher level this season. We are looking forward to her making noise in the tournament and are proud she chose to be a Panther!

"Bruni came in over the summer determined to make an impact in her first season and she has truly done that. She has battled through some minor injuries and continues to push herself daily. Her determination and work ethic are going to take her far. We are so proud of her."

Virginia Union will begin play in the 2023 CIAA Tournament when the Lady Panthers face Johnson C. Smith University at 12:10 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21, at the CFG Bank Arena in Baltimore, Md.
