Virginia Union University's women's tennis team hosted Bowie State University in the Lady Panthers' 2022 home finale on Saturday, March 26, at Battery Park in Richmond, Va.
Unfortunately, the Lady Bulldogs defeated VUU 4-0.
"We definitely didn't have the outcome we were hoping for," said VUU Head Tennis Coach
Brittany Uzzell. "My girls came out swinging hot and everybody was on their game, but for some reason we just couldn't keep the momentum. Again, it's not the result we were looking for, but they still played very well today."
Virginia Union not only had to deal with Bowie State, but the Lady Panthers also had to contend with wind gusts up to 30 miles per hour.
"Just sitting here watching the girls play, I could see that we have a lack of experience playing in these kind of conditions," Uzzell said. "But that's one of those things you can't practice for because you can't control the wind. I just wish we could have had more practice time in these kind of conditions so the girls would be more prepared for the wind in match play."
Virginia Union now travels to Petersburg, Va., to face Virginia State University at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 2.
