Virginia Union University's women's tennis team went 2-2 at the 2022 CIAA Tennis Round-Up, held March 18-19 at Bowie State University in Bowie, Md.

It marked the first time a VUU tennis team won two games at the Round-Up since 2013.

On Friday, March 18, VUU defeated Winston-Salem State University 4-2 but then lost to Shaw University 5-0.

On Saturday, March 19, Virginia Union defeated Livingstone College 5-3 but lost to Johnson C. Smith University 5-0 in the finale of the Round-Up

"I am very proud of the girls and their two wins," said VUU Tennis Coach Brittany Uzzell.  "I am even more proud of the games that we didn't win because they didn't lay down.  All of my girls fought to the very last ball, and that's all a coach can ask for. I am proud and excited for the rest of the season.
 

VUU now returns home to face Elizabeth City State University at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 25, at Battery Park in Richmond, Va.
