Taniah Johnson scored a team-high 25 points to lead the Lady Panthers to a 61-58 win over Winston-Salem State University on Wednesday, January 12, in Winston-Salem, N.C.
"I give much respect to my alma mater as they are in the Top 3 in the South, but right now I am a Panther," said VUU Head Women's Basketball Coach Tierra Terry. "This was a great team win. We fought hard through adversity and played as a unit.
Aaliyah Bevans was huge for us and did some intangible things that the stat sheet does not show.Â
Jhakia Gist hit some huge shots and
Kiara Shepherd gave us a lot of heart and snatched nine rebounds.
Taniah Johnson played heavy minutes and was very effective from the field finishing with 25 points. Overall, we are very proud of our team and ready to prepare for our next big game."
Virginia Union now travels to Petersburg, Va., to face Virginia State University at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 15.
