Virginia Union University's men's basketball team will face Fayetteville State University in the Panthers' first game of the 2020 CIAA Tournament at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 27, at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, N.C.

Fayetteville State, the #3 seed in the Southern Division of the CIAA, defeated the #7 seed Shaw University 80-65 on Wednesday, February 26, at Bojangles Coliseum in the opening round game.

VUU lost to Fayetteville State 67-64 on November 23 in Fayetteville, N.C., but defeated the Broncos 61-58 in the rematch on December 12 at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.

This will mark the first meeting of the two teams in the CIAA Tournament in 11 seasons.  The Panthers defeated FSU 71-55 on February 23, 2009, in Charlotte, N.C.

VUU is entering the tournament with an 18-10 while Fayetteville State is 22-7.
