Virginia Union University's tennis team was honored for having the highest team Grade Point Average (GPA) in the CIAA on the opening day of the CIAA Tennis Championship on Thursday, May 3, in Bowie, Md.

Alyssa White, a freshman from Newport News, Va., who is majoring in Mass Communications, carries a GPA of 3.06.

This is the third Virginia Union University sports program to win the CIAA Highest Team GPA Award this academic year. Women's Bowling and Women's Cross-Country both won the CIAA Highest Team GPA award this past season.
