Virginia Union University's Darian Peterson has been named the CIAA Newcomer of the Week, the CIAA announced on Monday, February 4.

Peterson, a sophomore guard from Chester, Va., recorded his first collegiate double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds in VUU's win over Chowan on February 2nd.
 
"Darian is starting to give us a spark off the bench," VUU Head Coach Jay Butler said.  "He is doing a good job keeping the wheels turning and letting the game come to him.  We are going to need that going into the CIAA Tournament."
 
Virginia Union faces Virginia State University at 4:00 p.m. on February, February 9, in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
