Shareka McNeill scored a career-high 27 points, including hitting 12 of 13 free throws, to lead the Lady Panthers to a hard-fought 85-78 win over Lincoln (Pa.) University on Saturday, February 17, in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
McNeill, a true freshman guard from Charlotte, N.C., hit 7 of 16 shots from the field as the Lady Panthers marched to their 23rd win of the season.

Rachael Pecota scored 18 points in the win for the Lady Panthers.

Alexis Johnson added 12 points to go with a team-high eight rebounds and seven blocks. Johnson, a senior from Hamilton, N.J., now has 80 blocks on the season. The VUU school-record is 102 blocks, set in 1997-98 by Keanya Clifton.

The win raised VUU's record to 23-2 on the season overall and 13-1 in the CIAA. The win also solidified the Lady Panthers' hold on the #1 ranking in the Atlantic Region of the NCAA.
Lincoln fell to 15-9 overall and 9-5 in the CIAA.
Virginia Union now travels to Elizabeth City, N.C., to face Elizabeth City State University at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 21.
