Virginia Union University's Alexis Johnson has been named the CIAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week while VUU Head Coach AnnMarie Gilbert has been named the CIAA Coach of the Week, the CIAA announced on Tuesday, February 13.

Johnson, a senior forward from Hamilton, N.J., averaged 18.5 points per game this past week. She scored 13 points against Virginia State and then scored 24 points against Bowie State. She is also ninth in the nation in blocks.

Gilbert  guided the Lady Panthers to two wins this past week, including dealing Virginia State University its first home loss of the season. VUU is now 22-2 and ranked sixth in the nation.

The Lady Panthers will face Lincoln (Pa.) University at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
