Virginia Union University's Alexis Johnson has been named the CIAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the CIAA announced on Tuesday, January 16.

Johnson, a senior from Hamilton, N.J., scored 37 points and grabbed 27 in two games this past week. She scored 18 points and grabbed 17 rebounds, and tied the VUU school-record with seven blocks in the Lady Panthers' win over Saint Augustine's. She then scored 19 points and hauled down 10 rebounds in VUU's 65-56 win over previously unbeaten Virginia State University. 

Virginia Union plays Bowie State University at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 20, in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
