Box Score Virginia Union University's softball team honored the two seniors on the team, Marisha Bates and Jareece Sayles, prior to the Lady Panthers' double-header against Virginia State University on Saturday, April 22, at the VUU Softball Field in Richmond, Va.

Bates, a shortstop from Norristown, Pa., and Sayles, a pitcher/infielder from Upper Marlboro, Md., Both players scored runs against VSU.

In the game, however, Virginia State hung on to defeat the Panthers 10-6 despite Sayles striking out four.  VUU's Ro'Shaila Williams and Janaya Harris both slugged home runs in the game.

The second game of the double-header was called due to inclement weather with VUU leading Virginia State 5-1 in the top of the third inning.  The game will be completed on Friday, April 28, at the VUU Softball Field in Richmond, Va.
