Virginia Union University's Janaya Harris slammed two home runs and had seven hits as the Lady Panthers swept Bluefield State College 17-8 and 14-1 on Friday, April 14, in Bluefield, W.V.

Harris had four hits and drove in five runs in the first game, and teammate Daionna Wright drove in five runs with a homer and a triple.

In all, the Lady Panthers slugged four home runs in the game.  VUU's Shontel Linnette had the other home run for Virginia Union.

In the second game, Linnette continued her hot pitching, striking out six and scattering four hits in the night-cap.  

Harris had three more hits and three more RBIs in the 14-1 win.

The game also marked the second time this season the Lady Panthers had 20 or more hits in a single game.  The team had 20 hits against Lincoln (Pa.) University on April 1.

The wins raised VUU's record to 9-14.  Bluefield State fell to 1-25.

Virginia Union now returns home for the regular-season finale against Virginia State University at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, at the VUU Softball Field in Richmond, Va.
