Jareece Sayles scattered four hits and struck out four as the Lady Panthers defeated Bluefield State College 10-2 in the second game of a double-header on Sunday, March 26, at the VUU Softball Field in Richmond, Va.
Sayles retired the first six batters she faced, including three strikeouts in the first three innings.
VUU got on the board first with two runs in the second inning on singles by
Marisha Bates and Yazmine Lewis.
The Lady Panthers scored three more runs on a double by
Janaya Harris and added three more in the fifth.
In the opener Sayles struck out five batters, but Bluefield State outlasted the Lady Panthers 6-4.
VUU is now 2-9 on the season. The Lady Panthers' home stand continues when they meet Lincoln (Pa.) University in a double-header starting at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, at the VUU Softball Field in Richmond, Va.
