Brittany Jackson scored 26 points, but Lincoln University of Pennsylvania upset the #5-ranked Lady Panthers 82-78 on Saturday, February 11, in Lincoln University, Pa.
The Lady Panthers opened the scoring with an 8-0 run with layups by Jackson and
Jayda Luckie. Â By the time the quarter ended, however, Lincoln had fought back to take an 18-16 lead.
VUU scored 21 second-quarter points as Jackson scored seven and
Lady Walker grabbed seven rebounds to take a 37-32 lead.
The Lady Panthers' lead surged to 15 points (56-41) with 3:22 left to play in the third quarter, but then Lincoln started a major comeback.
Lincoln outscored VUU 33-20 in the fourth quarter with the Lions hitting 10 of 15 shots (66.7%) from the field to take the 82-78 win.
The loss dropped VUU to 21-2 on the season and 12-2 in the CIAA. Â Lincoln is now 7-17 and 4-10 in CIAA play.
Virginia Union now returns home to Historic Barco-Stevens Hall to face Elizabeth City State University at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 15Â in the final home game of the 2016-17 season.
