The Virginia Union University men's basketball team is currently on the road in West Virginia, and will meet Concord University at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, December 11, but the Panthers encountered an unexpected bit of hospitality when they were at the team dinner on Saturday, December 9.
While at dinner, a graduate of Concord noticed the Panthers as they ate after defeating Bluefield State College and invited them to church service on Sunday, December 10.
"I am happy to say that the VUU basketball team took time to worship at First Baptist Church today in Princeton, W.V.," wrote Hank Burnley on his Facebook page. "The players and coaches were extremely well mannered, polite, friendly and very much welcomed in our church anytime. VUU should be proud of their basketball team. Please come back and visit when you are in southern West Virginia."
VUU will meet Concord at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, December 11. The game can be viewed live online at vuusports.com.
