Virginia Union University's men's tennis team will face Johnson C. Smith University in the opening match of the 2016 CIAA Men's Tennis Championship at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 28, in Raleigh, N.C.

VUU, led by Anthony Michael at #1 singles, will enter the tournament as the #4 seed in the Northern Division.  Johnson C. Smith will be the #5 seed in the Southern Division.

If the Panthers win, they will top-seeded Chowan University on Friday, April 29.

VUU men's tennis finished at 3-10 in the regular season, but defeated Johnson C. Smith twice during the regular season.
