Box Score Virginia Union University's Shontel Linnette slammed a home run and drove in three runs on the day, but Chowan swept the Lady Panthers 8-1 and 5-3 on Sunday, April 17, in Murfreesboro, N.C.

Linnette's blast came in the fourth inning of the first game.  It was Linnette's second homer of the year.

In the second game, Chowan surged to a 4-0 lead, but VUU pulled within one run when Linnette singled in Jareece Sayles and Marisha Bates in the fifth inning.  VUU's Taylor Hamilton drove in another run to make it a 4-3 game.

That was as close as VUU would get.  Chowan scored another run in the sixth inning to make the score 5-3.

The losses dropped Virginia Union to 14-13 on the season.

The Lady Panthers are now scheduled to play Lincoln University at 12:00 noon on Monday, April 18, in Lincoln University, Pa.
