Box Score Virginia Union University's
J. Maddie Harris slugged a pair of home runs and
Taylor Hamilton hit a grand slam home run to help VUU gain a split in softball action against Bowie State University on Sunday, April 10, in Bowie, Md.
With VUU trailing 2-0 in the third inning, Virginia Union's
Shontel Linnette and
Taylor Hamilton singled. Â Harris then homered to left centerfield to give the Panthers a 3-2 lead. Â Bowie State came back, however, with two runs in the fifth inning to take a 4-3 win.
In the second game,  Hamilton hit her grand slam in the second inning after
Ro'Shaila Williams,
Amber Jordan and
Shekinah Stewart reached base. Â Harris then slammed her second homer of the day with two out in the second inning.
With the game tied entering the sixth inning, the Lady Panthers exploded for eight runs in the top of the sixth on eight hits.
The split gains VUU a 12-11 record while Bowie State is now 9-17.
Virginia Union now returns home for senior day as the Lady Panthers meet Elizabeth City State University at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, at the VUU Softball Field in Richmond, Va.
