Virginia Union University's softball team staged a three-run rally in the top of the eighth inning and then hung on for an 11-10 win over Shaw University on Sunday, March 20, in Raleigh, N.C.
VUU's
Amber Jordan led off the eighth with a single and advanced to second on a walk to
Marisha Bates.  Jordan and Bates scored on a double by Daionna Wright.  Wright then scored on a double by
Shekinah Stewart for the eventual winning run.
Virginia Union's Shontel Linnett got the win for the Lady Panthers.
The win evened VUU's record at 9-9 overall and 3-4 in CIAA play.
Virginia Union now returns home to host Virginia State University in the Lady Panthers' home opener at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, at the VUU Softball Field in Richmond, Va.
