Box Score Virginia Union University's women's basketball team captured the Northern Division Championship by defeating Chowan University 67-53 on Saturday, February 20, in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.

VUU's Kiana Johnson scored 23 points while teammate Lady Walker scored 20 points as the Lady Panthers captured their 22nd win.  The 22 wins are the most for a VUU women's team since the 2003-04 team won 24 games.

Union's Walker and Taylor White both recorded double-doubles in the win.  Walker had 11 rebounds and White had 11 points and 12 rebounds.

VUU will enter the CIAA Tournament as the #1 seed in the Northern Division.  The #1 seeding gives Virginia Union a first-round bye.  The Lady Panthers will play their first tournament game on Wednesday, February 24, in Time-Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, N.C.  Potential opponents and game times will be announced on Sunday, February 21.

Chowan finished the regular season at 19-7 overall and 13-3 in CIAA play.
