Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Virginia Union University's Shontel Linnette held Chowan to three hits, but Chowan outlasted the Lady Panthers 3-1 in softball double-header action at the VUU Softball Field in Richmond, Va., on Sunday, April 19.

Shontel gave up just one earned run in the loss.

VUU's only run came when Shaquandra Brown doubled down the left field line in the sixth inning, and was then driven home by Taylor Hamilton.

In the opener, Chowan defeated VUU 8-0.

The losses dropped VUU to 5-2 in the Northern Division of the CIAA, putting the Lady Panthers in second place behind Chowan's 5-1 divisional record.

The Lady Panthers are 9-4 in CIAA action and 14-6 overall.

VUU now faces Elizabeth City State University in a make-up game at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 24, at the VUU Softball Field in Richmond, Va.
