CHARLOTTE, NC- The Chowan University men's tennis team advanced to the CIAA Championship match on Saturday, April 18, with a 5-0 win over Virginia Union University.  

Number one doubles duo Rafael Goncalves and Farid Hajizada picked up an 8-1 win over Jarvis Rideau and Anthony Michael. Danilo Galovic and Tristan Martin defeated Michael Smith and Kareem Burrow 8-2 in number two doubles play while Ivan Doubograev and Sasha Kirsanov earned a win by forfeit. 

Doubograev topped Smith 6-1, 6-0 in number three singles play and Carlos Ramirez earned a win by forfeit in the sixth position to secure the 5-0 win for the Chowan Blue and White. 

In VUU's opening match on Friday, April 18, the Panthers defeated Johnson C. Smith University 5-4.
