Taylor Hamilton had 10 hits, including a home run, as the Lady Panthers captured three wins at the Claflin Softball Tournament, held on February 6-7 in Orangeburg, S.C.
Hamilton scored seven runs and had 11 runs batted in during the five games.
In the opener on February 6, VUU beat Clark Atlanta University 13-10 behind Hamilton's four hits, including a double. Â Hamilton had four RBIs in the game.
In the second game, Alabama A&M defeated VUU 16-7 despite Hamilton driving in three runs.
On February 7, Virginia Union defeated Concordia College of Alabama 11-5 on a home run by Hamilton.
After host Claflin University defeated VUU 12-8, the Lady Panthers bounced back to defeat Benedict College 13-9. Â VUU's
Breana Miller drove in three runs in the game.
Virginia Union is now 3-2 after the tournament. Â The Lady Panthers now travel to Raleigh, N.C., to take part in the Shaw University Softball Challenge on February 21-22.
