PHOTO GALLERYThe women's basketball team at Virginia Union University hosted head coach
Barvenia Wooten-Cherry's Fifth Annual Strictly Fundamental Girls Basketball Summer Camp on July 30-August 2 in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
The camp consisted of four objectives:
INTELLECTUAL OBJECTIVE APPROACH
Provide Individual age and skill appropriate basketball lessons using various media.
PHYSICAL OBJECTIVE APPROACH
Provide fundamental physical activity training to enhance the campers' knowledge of basic basketball skills through performing drills, stretching exercises, 3 on 3 competition, and other game competitions.
SPIRITUAL OBJECTIVE APPROACH
Provide each camper the opportunity to pray for the team; and to encourage the camper to keep a winning spirit on and off the basketball court. Our principle objective is to teach kids to love themselves and God while appreciating the temple, gifts, and talents that they all have been given.
SOCIAL OBJECTIVE APPROACH
Provide an enriching sports environment with positive interactions to help the campers understand all aspects of respect, listening, communication, and leadership skills, and a team spirit to stimulate a healthy sense of pride!Â
