Lady Panthers Gain Third Win in Last Four Games

Box Score After being plagued with the bad weather that caused their previous game to be postponed, the Lady Panthers warmed up Saturday, February 15, in Historic Barco-Stevens Hall by downing conference rival Lincoln University 70-48.

Getting off to a unhurried start, the Lady Panthers take a dramatic lead going into the half as April Robinson put up a shot with just over a second left on the clock to beat the buzzer. Robinson finished the night with four points, four rebounds and eight assists.

It seemed as if ball control was the focus for the remainder of the game as the Lady Panthers entered the second half of regulation with a vengeance.

Following a closely contested first half, the Lady Panthers newly found confidence helped them coast too a smooth 22 point victory.

"I think tonight really showed our tenacity and our ability to rebound. I think we had been playing a lot of zone a and it really kept up still and  unable to move, so switching to the man really helped us out tonight. It got our legs going and got us into transition, we got a lot of buckets tonight in transition, and we're happy with that."

The powerful surge was lead by a Lady Panther trio in Ashle Freeman, Jasmin Dancy and Lady Walker who all scored 13 points a piece. In addition to her scoring, Freeman also contributed six assists, as redshirt freshman forward Lady Walker snagged nine rebounds.

The Lady Panther exemplified the definition of teamwork, after having four players with double digit in points. Rounding out the impact players was junior guard Melyse Brown, who obtained the team's only double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds to go along with her five steals.

Also making a strong team contribution was Junior guard ShaHadah Barret who added eight assists and five rebounds, helping seal the Lady Panthers 70-48 triumph.

The team improves their record to 7-14 overall and 4-9 in the CIAA as the tournament slowly creeps upon the team.

The Ladies will be on the road Monday, February 17, as they travel to Bowie, Md., to face Bowie State University.
