Lady Panthers Drill Chowan 68-37

Box Score Virginia Union University's women's basketball team allowed just 10 first-half points as the Lady Panthers dominated Chowan University 68-37 on Saturday, February 1, in Murfreesboro, N.C.

The 37 points were the lowest point total allowed by a Lady Panther team since VUU defeated Elizabeth City State University 49-37 on January 27, 2008.

Virginia Union's Ashle Freeman led the Lady Panthers by scoring 24 points while teammate Melyse Brown added 18 points in the win.

VUU's Lady Walker scored 11 points while Jasmin Dancy led the Lady Panthers on the boards with eight rebounds.

The win raised VUU's record to 5-13 overall and 2-8 in CIAA play.  Chowan dropped to 10-10 overall and 4-6 in the CIAA.

Virginias Union now returns home to face Elizabeth City State at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 4, in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
