Box Score Virginia Union University's
Ashle Freeman scored 20 points, but Livingstone College defeated VUU 64-48 in Salisbury, N.C., on Saturday, January 4.

Melyse Brown led Union on the boards with six rebounds.
"Livingstone was very big for us in size," head women's basketball coach
Barvenia Wooten-Cherry said after the game. Â "We really had to contend with the post players and had a hard time defending the post. Â That didn't sit well with in the game while we also didn't shoot well tonight."
As a team, Virginia Union shot 24.2% from the field (16 of 66 shots). Â
"This is something we need to fix in the pre-game," Wooten-Cherry said. Â "We need to get the energy going and feel good about our shots. Â Tonight, we were less than 28 percent from the field, and you can't win ball games like that.
The loss dropped VUU to 3-7 overall and 0-2 in the CIAA. Â Livingstone is now 6-6 overall and 1-1 in the CIAA.
Virginia Union now travels to Charlotte, N.C., to face Johnson C. Smith University at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, January 6.
