Ashle Freeman scored 20 points, including 18 in the first half, but Saint Augustine's University defeated the Lady Panthers 77-71 on Monday, January 13, in Historic Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
Freeman hit 6-of-17 shots from the field in the game and had four steals.
The Lady Panther also received major contribution from junior guard ShaHadah Barret with 11 assist, ending her night one shy of a double-double with a total of 9 points.

Barvenia Wooten-Cherry expressed her disappointment in tonight's loss, adding "you want regular season wins for seeding purposes and to gain momentum, but in the tournament we all get a fresh start."

The loss dropped the Lady Panthers to 4-10 overall and 1-5 in the CIAA. Â Saint Augustine's is now 9-5 overall and 4-1 in the CIAA.
VUU now faces Virginia State University at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 18, in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
