Box Score Virginia Union University's Ashle Freeman scored 18 points while newcomer April Robinson added 13 points in her first game in a VUU uniform to lead the Lady Panthers to a 68-63 win over Fayetteville State University on Saturday, January 11, in Historic Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.

The Lady Panthers also received major contributions from inside with Melyse Brown and Jasmin Dancy, both registering 10 rebounds a piece helping the team maintain a seven point lead going into the half, and ultimately the game.

As the team shot a remarkable 81.8% from the free-throw line in the first half, and that seemed to be the difference maker of the night as the team finished better than 70%.

After finding themselves behind mid-way through the second half the Lady Panthers were able to construct a slim 2 point lead with just 39 seconds left in the game.

The win improves the Lady Panthers to 4-9 overall and 1-4 in the CIAA play.

The Lady Panthers continue the current home-stand with a match up against the Saint Augustine Falcons at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, January 13th in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
