Virginia Union University's women's tennis team split a double-header, beating Bowie State University 5-3 but then being defeated by Shaw University 5-1 on Tuesday, April 9, at Battery Park in Richmond, Va.

In the first match against Bowie State, VUU's Kiara Miller and Ellie Parsons both won their singles matches 8-0.  

Virginia Union's Deja Shabazz also won her singles match 8-1.  

VUU also won two doubles matches.

Against Shaw University, Shabazz was the only Lady Panther to record a win, winning her singles match 8-3.

VUU is now 8-8 overall and 6-5 in the CIAA.  

Virginia Union now meets Elizabeth City State University at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 11, at Battery Park in Richmond, Va.
