Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Virginia Union University's softball team gained a spot in the CIAA Tournament semi-finals with a dramatic 6-5 win over Johnson C. Smith University on Thursday, April 18, at the Petersburg Sports Complex in Petersburg, Va.

In the Lady Panthers' first game of the tournament, Saint Augustine's University defeated VUU 5-3 at the Sports Complex when the Falcons scored two runs in the fifth inning.

In the second game, VUU entered the sixth inning trailing 5-4.  Quincy Lewis hit a single to center field with one out.  After Shireese Borden walked, Shaquanda Fambro singled to center field to load the bases.

VUU's Shakia Mackey then lined a single up the middle, scoring both Lewis and Borden.  Lewis then shut down the Golden Bulls in the seventh inning to secure the win for the Lady Panthers.

VUU will now face a rematch with Saint Augustine's at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 19, at the Petersburg Sports Complex in Petersburg, Va.
