Virginia Union University's Deja Shabazz won her singles match 6-4, 6-3, but her win was the only one on the day for the Lady Panthers as VUU lost to Chowan University 8-1 in the regular-season finale on Monday, April 15, in Murfreesboro, N.C.

VUU's Ellie Parsons lost her match 6-0, 6-1 while teammate Katrina Joe lost 6-1, 6-0.

Virginia Union's DeJamine Byrson lost 6-0, 6-0 and Ernisa McClendon lost 6-0, 6-0.

Chowan also won all three doubles matches.

The loss gave VUU a 10-10 record as they enter into the CIAA Championships, to be held April 18-20 at Virginia State University in Petersburg, Va.
