Lewis Picks Up 11th Win

Box Score Virginia Union University's Quincy Lewis struck out five and walked none as VUU defeated Elizabeth City State University 16-3 on Wednesday, April 10, at the VUU Softball Field in Richmond, Va.

The win was the 11th of the season for the sophomore from Willingboro, N.J.  Lewis' 11 wins are the most for a VUU pitcher since Edwina Anderson won a school-record 16 games in 1988.

Virginia Union broke open the scoring early by tallying five runs in the first inning and then adding six more in the second inning.

The big blow for the Lady Panthers came when freshman Shaquanda Brown slugged her first home run of the season over the right field fence in the fourth inning.

The win raised VUU's record to 15-6 overall and 13-6 in the CIAA.

VUU wraps up the 2013 home season with a double-header against Chowan University at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, at the VUU Softball Field in Richmond, Va.
