Box Score 2 Virginia Union University's women's softball team swept Bowie State University 8-7 and 14-6 in a double-header at the VUU Softball Field on Sunday, March 24, in Richmond, Va.
The two wins gave the Lady Panthers a 5-0 record in the CIAA Northern Division, and moved VUU into first place in the Northern Division.
The wins also marked the first time VUU has swept Bowie State in a double-header since April 13, 2003. The Lady Panthers hadn't beaten the Lady Bulldogs since April 10, 2004.

Kierris Doyle to tie the game.
In the bottom of the ninth inning, VUU's
Tyana Daniels doubled, then Doyle followed with another double to score the winning run.

Danielle McEachern picked up the complete-game win in the opener.
In the second game, Daniels had four hits, including a double while McEachern and Sharmanda Fambro drove in two runs apiece as VUU won a six-inning affair 14-6.

Quincy Lewis struck out three and allowed no earned runs to pick up her sixth win of the season.
The wins raised Virginia Union's record to 7-4 overall and in the CIAA. Bowie State fell to 4-20 overall and 3-8 in CIAA play.
Virginia Union now faces Mount Olive College in a non-conference double-header at the VUU Softball Field at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 24, in Richmond, Va.
