Box Score Virginia Union University's Parress Davis scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Lady Panthers to a 57-55 win over Virginia State University in the 2013 CIAA Tournament on Wednesday, February 27, in the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, N.C.

The win was the first for the Lady Panthers in the CIAA Tournament since 2009, and marked the first time VUU beat Virginia State in tournament play.  The two teams had played each other three times before, in 1984, 1987 and 2007.

VUU's Ashle Freeman led the Lady Panthers in scoring with 16 points in the win.

Virginia Union now advances to the semi-finals of the tournament, and will face Fayetteville State University at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 1.

The Lady Panthers lost to Fayetteville State 76-51 on January 12 in Fayetteville, N.C.  

VUU is now 13-13 on the season, marking the most wins for the Lady Panthers since the 2006 team won 13 games.

Virginia State finishes the 2012-13 season at 14-14.
