Virginia Union University's women's tennis team swept Fayetteville State University 9-0 in the Lady Panthers' season-opener, held at the CIAA Tennis Round-Up on Friday, February 15, in Raleigh, N.C.

VUU's Kiara Miller defeated Samantha Ledbetter 8-6 while teammate Ellie Parsons downed Taylor Norris 8-1.

Virginia Union's Katrina Joe won over Octavia Wynn 8-0 and April George beat Joylene Thompson 8-0.

VUU's DeJamine Byrson defeated Octavia Tann 8-2 and Ernisa McClendon won by default.

In the doubles matches, the team of Miller/Parsons won their match 8-4 while the team of George/Joe won 8-0.

The doubles team of Byrson/McClendon won by default.

The rest of the matches at the round-up were canceled due to inclement weather.

The Lady Panthers now travel to Lynchburg, Va., to meet Randolph College at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 20.
