Box Score Virginia Union University's Melyse Brown tied her career-high by scoring 26 points, but Mount Olive College defeated the Lady Panthers 91-83 on Sunday, December 8, in Mount Olive, N.C.

Brown hit 10 of 15 shots from the field, including two three-pointers, in the game.  The 5-9 junior guard from Halifax, Va., was also 4-for-4 from the free throw line.

VUU's Ashle Freeman added 25 points and six steals for the Lady Panthers while teammate Denesha Tatum scored 11 points.

Virginia Union's Carla Cowherd led the Lady Panthers on the boards with nine rebounds.

The loss dropped VUU to 2-5 on the season while Mount Olive is now 5-2.

The Lady Panthers now return to Historic Barco-Stevens Hall to face East Stroudsburg University at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 14.
