Box Score Virginia Union University's Ashle Freeman scored 22 points and had six steals, but two free throws with :01 left in the game gave Coppin State University a 71-69 win over the Lady Panthers on Saturday, November 30, in Baltimore, Md.

In all, Coppin State was awarded four free throws in the last 19 seconds.

Freeman hit six of 18 shots from the field and went 10-for-11 from the free throw line.

VUU's Melyse Brown and Denesha Tatum both scored 14 points apiece in the game.  

Virginia Union's Carla Cowherd pulled down a team-high seven rebounds to lead the Lady Panthers on the boards.

The loss dropped VUU to 1-4 on the season while Coppin State is now 3-3.

VUU now returns to Historic Barco-Stevens Hall to face Randolph-Macon College at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 5.
