Box Score Virginia Union University's Ashle Freeman scored a team-high 18 points while teammate Parress Davis added 12 points to lead the Lady Panthers to a 57-39 win over Johnson C. Smith University on Wednesday, January 9, in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.

VUU's Melyse Brown added 11 points in the win while she and ShaHadah Barret grabbed four rebounds apiece.

The Lady Panthers defense forced the Golden Bulls into 32 turnovers in the game, including Danielle Ferguson's four steals.

The win raised VUU's record to 5-6 overall and 2-1 in CIAA play.  Johnson C. Smith dropped to 5-8 overall and 2-2 in the CIAA.

VUU now travels to Raleigh, N.C., to face defending National Champion Shaw University at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 10.
