Box Score Virginia Union University's Ashle Freeman scored 22 points, and the Lady Panthers led defending national champion Shaw University 36-27 at halftime, but the Lady Bears defeated VUU 85-66 on Monday, January 21, in Raleigh, N.C.

VUU's Melyse Brown added 12 point for the Lady Panthers while also pulling down 14 rebounds.

Shaw's Taylor Dalrymple led the Lady Bears with 25 points and 14 rebounds.

The loss dropped VUU to 7-9 overall and 4-4 in the CIAA.  Shaw, ranked 16th in the nation, is now 15-2 overall and 7-1 in the CIAA.

Virginia Union now travels to Bowie, Md., to face Bowie State University at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 23.
