Box Score Virginia Union University's Ashle Freeman scored 24 points to lead a massive VUU comeback as the Lady Panthers downed Virginia State University 65-52 on Saturday, January 19, in Petersburg, Va.

The win marked the first victory for a Lady Panther team in Petersburg since 2007.

VUU's Danielle Fergurson added 15 points and a team-high five rebounds in the win.

The Lady Panthers trailed VSU by 10 at halftime (33-23), but held the Lady Trojans to just 19 second-half points while scoring 42 of their own.

Virginia State was led by Alexandria Massado's 16 points.

The win raised Virginia Union's record to 7-8 overall and 4-3 in the CIAA.  Virginia State fell to 8-9 overall and 1-6 in the CIAA.

The Lady Panthers now travel to Raleigh, N.C., to face Shaw University in a non-conference match-up at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 21.
