Walter Hurd, who helped lead Virginia Union University to the 1992 Division II National Championship, has been named to the VUU Athletic Hall of Fame, it was announced on Tuesday, September 25.
Hurd will be officially inducted during the Hall of Fame Ceremony on Saturday, October 6.
Hurd, a two-year All-CIAA selection, scored 987 points and had 50 steals in 1990-91. A native of New York, N.Y., Hurd hit 110 three pointers in his two-year career at VUU, including a team-high 61 treys in 1991-92.
Hurd led VUU in scoring in 1990-91 with an average of 15.6 points per game and again in 1991-92 with an average of 14.7 points per game.
Over the course of his career, Virginia Union had a won-loss record of 57-8, including a 30-3 record during the National Championship season of 1991-92.
