Nathan Cannady, who played men's basketball for Virginia Union University and later became coach of the Lady Panthers women's basketball team, has been named to the VUU Athletic Hall of Fame. Cannady will be inducted in the VUU Hall of Fame on Saturday, October 6, 2012.
As a freshman,Coach Tom Harris named Nate Cannady co-captain along with Union's greatest player Mike Davis,showing his leadership qualities even as a first year player.Cannady immediately made an impact on that team averaging double figures in both points and leading the team in rebounds.Cannady,playing alongside future Tom Harris Hall of Famers,Arthur "Butch" Niles and Mike Davis helped a short-handed team to a third place finish in the 1968 CIAA tournament.
